The Grey Bruce Health Unit has just released the Reportable Diseases In Grey Bruce Report. This report is a series of disease profiles of public health importance. Diseases with a higher incidence are examined in detail, whereas rarer diseases are touched upon briefly.

Grey Bruce has a high rate of reportable enteric illness (vomiting and diarrhea). These illnesses can be caused by contact with animals, along with unsafe food preparation and untreated drinking water. The easiest, and most effective way, to prevent these illnesses is to wash your hands (with safe food handling and preparation as a close second).

In an effort to reduce these illnesses, we’ve started a campaign Avoid Germs that Make You Squirm. Throughout the year we will be using social media, community partners and events to get our message out to as many people as possible.
