Emergency Preparedness Week

Emergency preparedness at the community level is led by your local Municipality, with support by the County, First Responders, and other agencies including Public Health. In most emergency scenarios, the role of Public Health is “environmental surety”. This can be described as making sure that secondary impacts such as infection, or illness caused by consuming contaminated food and water is reduced or eliminated. We also take a lead role in biological emergencies such as pandemics.

During many types of emergencies, the normal services available to you may be disrupted. In order to keep your family healthy and safe it is a good idea to plan for emergency situations and make an emergency kit so that you can provide your basic needs for a minimum of 72 hours.
